Cauchemar (French: 'Nightmarish') is a composer of avant-garde classical and film music, exploring dissonant harmonies, enigmatic motivic relationships, and multi-timbral soundmass texture. Cauchemar's compositions range from fully composed works consisting of dense atonal polyphony, contrasting explorations of a Romantic-era harmonic language immersed in tonal chromaticism, and aleatoric soundmass rich with heavily manipulated acoustic recordings.
The majority of Cauchemar's recent works consist of unique and personally-cultivated sound design libraries, most often derived from acoustic recordings. Acoustic sources lend a familiar but enigmatic nature when subjected to various manipulation and mangling sound design techniques in post-production; piano, cello, glockenspiel, harmonium, and an assortment of other instruments dominate the acoustic texture.
The first in a series of musical Valentines, 'Red Roses' is an elegant, heartfelt lyric to love & romance. Played slowly and with rubato, featuring a dreamy piano and yearning strings, this song is perfect for Valentine's Day themes and scenes of passionate romance. Instrumental, Themes, Valentines Music
