Johnny Azari is a NY-based songwriter and performer who has opened for acts like Kiss, The New York Dolls, and Nouvelle Vague. He has written over 300 Rock, Blues, and Country songs, including "Freedom Glory Be Our Name," which became the anthem of Iran's Green Movement, and his "Occupation Blues" was listed as the #2 song of the Occupy Wall Street movement by The New York Observer. Johnny also scored the feature film "Windows," which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, and he's worked with Grammy Award-winning producer David Kahn.
Johnny Azari is currently working on his debut solo record "From The Tropic Of Entropy," which is slated for release in March of 2013 and will be followed by an eight month national US tour. His previous bands include The Dirty Pearls and Electric Black. The Dirty Pearls were not only mentioned by Lady Gaga in her song "Heavy Metal Lover," but they also opened for acts such as Kiss, The New York Dolls, Bret Michaels, and Vince Neil. Electric Black has been featured in The New York Times, CNN, Huffington Post, The Brooklyn Vegan, and many other media outlets.
