Ryan Thomas (Chinese Tracks)Home: Virginia USA US Composer Ryan Thomas began his career in the music biz as a session player. He started composing at the age of 25 and was instantly finding consistent work. While working on a number of American indie films, his music was used in critically acclaimed national Chinese films under legendary Hong Kong Composer Raymond Wong. Most recently, Ryan's music was included in a portion of the soundtrack to internationally acclaimed Hong Kong director Steven Chow's latest film, "The Mermaid," which has since become the highest grossing film in China. |

Ryan Thomas has university level training in music theory, composition, and commercial mixing and mastering technique. He has scored for a number of independent American films, including Kevin Spencer's "Powerful Medicine, Simply Magic" produced by Mwendo Productions, "Sticks" produced by Amizod Productions, and "Salvation Jane," produced by Vow Flicks. Currently, Ryan writes under Chinese composer Raymond Wong, who has received numerous awards for his work on the internationally acclaimed "Shaolin Soccer" and "Kung Fu Hustle." Most recently, Ryan has written portions of the soundtracks to a number of major Chinese film productions under Raymond Wong, including: -Monkey King: Hero is Back (highest grossing animated film in Chinese history, beating Kung Fu Panda 2; nominated for multiple Hong Kong film awards) -The Mermaid (2016) (legendary director Steven Chow's most recent film, which quickly became the highest grossing film in Chinese history) -Secret Treasure (Ronald Cheng and Gordon Chan) -Imprisoned: Survival Guide for the Rich and Prodigal (Christopher Sun) |
