As a proficient pianist, organist, clarinetist, and harpist, he brings these instruments alive just as his extensive choral experience lends itself to writing vocal music. At times deeply spiritual, other times excitingly rhythmic, dark, or simply light and fun-loving, Paul’s tracks are highly adaptable.
Paul Cooper-James has composed and conducted music in numerous cathedrals and concert halls around the UK and became a music adviser for the Midlands and South Wales. His influences include spiritual mantras as well as large-scale cinematic composers such as Hans Zimmer, Rupert Greyson-Williams, Christian Welde, and John Tavener. Paul acquired his musical skills through church music and a love of popular music while earning a degree in music and a Master's degree in musical engagement. He is a proficient organist, pianist and accompanist, and a trained tenor and counter-tenor. Paul has continually performed in public throughout his life with established regional, national and international choirs, ensembles, and soloists.
