Aition (Acoustic Tracks)

Based in Helsinki, Finland, Aition is a solo project of Lasse Lindgren, a producer and composer of Ambient music with Neoclassical and Folk influences. He produces albums in collaboration with musicians who specialize in medieval and early music: Aino Peltomaa (vocals, medieval harp) and Anna-Maaria Oramo (vocals, clavicimbalum). Aition’s latest EP release Apophthegmata I Bessarion, celebrates the legacy of Abba Bessarion (4th century AD), an ascetic who was living in open air, being scorched by the Egyptian desert sun.

Aition creates music in the spirit of Neoclassicism, getting its inspiration from the traditions and themes of ancient art and philosophy, and giving it a modern treatment. In Aition´s music, the world of antiquity, instruments of early music and modern music technology are brought together in a unique way, bringing the listener through musical portals to visit various ages of history. The EP Apophthegmata I Bessarion is bringing together influences from Neoclassicism, Ambient, and Folk, but escapes all attempts of rigid categorizing. Aition is a solo project of Lasse Lindgren who has been working and touring with post Jazz group Oddarrang since 2003. In 2022, Aition is planning to release a new album influenced by Neo-Folk and Middle Eastern music with a larger group of early musicians using medieval instruments.
