Rachael Sparrow and The Screechboys is a collaborative songwriting and music production project that was launched in the late winter of February 2008. Vocalist Rachael Sparrow and engineer/producer/songwriter Jamie Tresch lie at the core of this production vehicle. At their disposal are The Screechboys, a talented arsenal of seasoned studio musicians all hailing from Philadelphia and the surrounding South Jersey suburbs.
The vocal catalyst for the group is 27-year-old singer Rachael Sparrow. A native of New Hope, Pennsylvania, Rachael's smoky, dark and haunting inflection is reminiscent of vintage Fiona Apple, her biggest influence. However, subtle nuances also reflect somewhat Cher, Eva Cassidy, Billie Holiday and momentary flashes of Pink, Jewel, Indigo Girls, Christina Aguilera, and Heart’s Ann Wilson. Rachael can easily run the gamut from warm and sultry, to soaring to great heights to reach for that “big” monster riff. She also possesses a tender, effortless falsetto that immediately exposes her vulnerable side and further highlights her exceptional vocal range.
"Porcelain" is a song that focuses on the loss of faith in the human condition and the fragile, precarious nature of personal relationships. The strong, bluesy pop/rock track is both somber and soaring, the vocal performance reflects strength and vulnerability, Female Vocals, Indie Rock, Power Pop
