Otar, named after a famed Georgian classical composer of the same name (his grandfather), works nights as an emergency room physician in a busy trauma center. The Wolf is Maxx Loup, multi-instrumentalist, and teacher from Colorado. Stripped down in a live setting (which could be a club in Chelsea or a tunnel in Central Park), they do lots of whistling/growling/stomping/singing/clapping/howling, often supported by the bustling sounds of the city. Since coming together in 2012 through a shared interest in Stevie Wonder, Otar & the Wolf have been writing and recording together in their little hideaway above the French restaurant, building up quite a stash of tracks. You can also find them performing all around this hectic city busking and doing regular gigs at memorable venues such as the American Folk Art Museum. Otar & the Wolf's music has been featured in multiple online Podcasts, Radio, and Indie films including "New York I Love You," "Cellar Dwellers," and "Sweet Potato Soul." They have appeared on TV for Good Morning Iowa on Channel 7 to perform their Folk hit "International Drinking Song." |
